For the last 20 years our accounting software package of choice has been TAS Books – it has been totally reliable, and we had a bureau version here in Guardian that we could use for all of our client’s data. Now unfortunately, Sage, who bought over TAS a number of years ago have announced that from 1st January 2020 it will no longer support TAS. This is extremely bad news, as there is no other bureau accounting software available at such a competitive price.
While researching a replacement or solution to TAS, we have decided that the following are the 2 best solutions:
Xero was introduced to Ireland about 10 years ago, but we have really only started to use it about 18 months ago, as we felt it was still being developed until then. In our opinion, this is now a solid package with very good features and is suitable for many business’s. You pay a monthly subscription of €30 per month and this gives you and your accountant access to the package anywhere you have access to the internet from any device.
Sage’s entry level offering
Sage, the owners of Tas, are recommending/promoting Sage 1, which again is a cloud based package that you subscribe monthly for, and the cost is from €30 per month. We are partnering with Pimbrook Software to help our Tas clients migrate to Sage.
